Maria Stambler

Orbiting Earth in the spaceship, I saw how beautiful our planet is. People, let us preserve and increase this beauty, not destroy it! Yury Gagarin

Prior to joining BPIE, Maria was a journalist and social media professional in Russia and Europe for more than seven years; she wrote articles related to sustainability, climate change, travel and lifestyle. She also worked as part of a small team at Hungary’s Semmelweis University that carried out all the communications activities for several EU-wide healthcare joint actions. In her free time, she volunteered as Russia country manager at a small NGO called Climate Scorecard and was part of the communications team at the promising youth-led initiative Visegrad For Sustainable Development Goals. Before entering journalism and communications, Maria spent two years working as a freelance English teacher and copywriter for travel guides in her hometown of Moscow, Russia.

Maria holds a BA in Marketing and Advertising with Events Management from the London College of Communication (University of the Arts London), a MSc in Media and Communication from the London School of Economics, and a MSc in Environmental Sciences and Policy from the Central European University in Budapest, where she specialized in social media’s role in helping environmental NGO’s lead to a green awakening in society.

In her free time, Maria is an avid traveller, spoils her beloved French bulldog, enjoys going for bike rides and swims, watches world cinema, goes to concerts and music festivals (pre-Covid), hits the mountains for some snowboarding in the winters and tries to get better at surfing.
