In 2025, BPIE deepened its engagement with key EU policy processes, including support for the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), the European Affordable Housing Plan, and the European Building Stock Observatory. We convened high-level workshops, parliamentary roundtables, and cross-country design sprints to advance topics ranging from energy poverty and healthy buildings to lifecycle carbon regulation and office-to-housing conversions.

Beyond Europe, we played an active role on the global stage, co-authoring the Global Status Report for Buildings and Construction 2024–2025, contributing findings to COP30, and developing a Global Whole Life Carbon tracker spanning 14 regions.

Through this combination of rigorous research, policy advocacy, and stakeholder collaboration, BPIE continues to shape the future of sustainable buildings for communities across Europe and around the world.
